Biographical Sketch


Elisabeth Goss Stevens was born in Rome, New York. She graduated from Wellesley College, and received an MA from Columbia University in Modern Literature. As an artist, Stevens produced etchings, silverpoints, linocuts, and illustrations for her own books, other authors, and various periodicals. As a journalist and critic, she wrote articles and reviews on art, architecture, drama, and film for a number of major national magazines and newspapers, such as The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal. She was also the author of several works of fiction and poetry. She died at her home in Sarasota, Florida on June 10, 2018.

Scope and Contents


Sirens' Songs includes 13 etchings interpersed with hand-printed sheets of poems by Stevens, mainly about love and erotic life between men and women.
