Scope and Contents

The John Masefield Literary File consists of 318 photographs which depict a variety of subjects. It includes images of Masefield, members of his family, and various other people. There are also images of play productions, including Masefield's The Faithful and Good Friday, as well as numerous images of sailing ships. An index at the end of this guide lists photographers whose work is featured in this file. Further descriptions of some items are available in a card catalog in the repository.

This file forms a part of the Literary File Collection, which is comprised of photographs and albums withdrawn from the libraries and/or papers of literary figures, and generally include portraits and images collected by or of those figures.

PH:LF:Albums:Masefield, J., 1[was P21] 87 photographic prints; also includes several newspaper clippings and other memorabilia from circa 1912-1922, as well as a typed manuscript of the poem "On the hill" (1 leaf); belonged to Constance Masefield; housed in 3 parts.
PH:LF:Albums:Masefield, J., 2957:0056:0000 [was P166]14 photographic prints depicting Malvern, England; typed key (1 leaf, tipped in at front); also includes an article clipped from a book or magazine and a small envelope with manuscript notation.
