The Erle Stanley Gardner Literary File contains approximately 40,000 photographic prints, transparencies, and negatives (some stereographic), housed in approximately 58 document boxes, 13 storage cartons, and 16 albums. An avid photographer as well as a writer, Gardner documented his travels in Europe, China, South America, the South Pacific, and his hunting trips across the western United States. Also included are images taken for and used in articles and travel publications, as well as images that were part of criminal case research material. This finding aid comprises a partial list of the contents of this file, as much of the collection is unprocessed.
This collection forms a part of the Literary File Photography Collection, which is comprised of photographs and albums withdrawn from the libraries and/or papers of literary figures, and generally include portraits and images collected by or of those figures.
The Ransom Center holds other Gardner materials in the Erle Stanley Gardner Papers.
