TITLE   Pleasure Pier Cafe
DESCRIPTION   Interior view of the Pleasure Pier Cafe located at the corner of Water and Peoples Streets on Pleasure Pier in Corpus Christi, Texas. Owner John Govatos, Sr., in a three-piece suit, stands behind a long white serving counter. A glass display case contains pastries and pies. In a room beyond the counter are tables and chairs in front of tall windows. One of the attractions of this cafe was the windows overlooking the bay. Note the Razzle Dazzle gaming device on the counter next to the cash register. Govatos was well-known in Corpus Christi and a friend of Lyndon Baines Johnson. He was also known for providing free meals to people, including Johnson, during the Depression.
