DESCRIPTION |

Interior view of an unidentified cafe in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dark counters with affixed white stools line the left and back walls. Table seating is at right. A man and woman, both in waitstaff attire, and another woman in a dark print dress stand behind the counter. This cafe sold a roast beef and potato dinner for 25¢, a hot roast beef sandwich for 20¢, and fried chicken for 25¢. Note the sign on the wall advertising a $4 meal ticket which would buy $5.50 worth of food. This was a common practice during the Depression. |
