DESCRIPTION   Interior view of Nueces Furniture Store located at 317 North Chaparral Street in Corpus Christi, Texas. Six men stand in the center of a furniture store. The man standing in front of the group in the dark vest and trousers is owner Joe S. Simon. Simon was a prominent Corpus Christi citizen. While serving as city councilman, he was responsible for installing the city's parking meters. However, he is best remembered for the annual Christmas parties he gave in honor of the city's newsboys. The Nueces Furniture Store sold bridge tables for $1 and up, sofas and stuffed chairs, a two-piece bed-davenport for $79.50, a coffee table for $8.95, end tables, framed pictures and mirrors, floor lamps, and table lamps.
