TITLE   Gulf Marine Iron Works
DESCRIPTION   Interior view of the Gulf Marine Iron Works in Corpus Christi, Texas. This business was also known as Gulf Coast Iron. A man in trousers and a tie stands next to four men in dirty work clothes in a large industrial warehouse illuminated by transom windows. August Perrigue is the man second from left. On the right, behind the fence, is the engine which powered the entire shop. Power tools were hooked up to belts, which were powered by a line shaft running along the ceiling. An overhead chain hoist is in the center, a lathe on the left, and a drill press on the right.
