TITLE   McCarthy Welding and Machine Shop
DESCRIPTION   Interior view of the McCarthy Welding and Machine Shop in Corpus Christi, Texas. Two men in dirty work clothes stand in a machine shop. The man on the right stands by a vertical drill press, and the man on the left stands by a threading machine. The line shafts indicate that this shop was powered by a gasoline engine. Power tools were hooked up to belts, which were powered by a line shaft that ran along the ceiling. On the right is a blacksmith's forge which is full of powdered coal. The machine in the foreground is a grinder. A portable electric welder is in the rear. Note the homemade fan at the upper right.
