TITLE   Ullmann, Stern & Krausse, Inc.
DESCRIPTION   Interior of Ullmann, Stern, & Krausse Inc., grocers and importers in Galveston, Texas. A man stands at a wooden desk next to a large calculator and a filing cabinet. A woman, wearing a dark dress with a white bow at the neck sits at another desk in front of a typewriter. This business was identified in 1975 as being IGA Grocery. Later research in the 1980s disproved this identification. According to Sybil Miller in Itinerant Photographer: Corpus Christi, 1934, to make this image, the itinerant directed the woman to sit at the rear desk (where the man had been seated previously) and the man to stand near the left desk. He also pulled down the window shade (to avoid excessive halation) and turned off the bare light bulb. A beer permit along with other permits can be seen on the closet door. A Winchester shotgun advertisement is on the wall. This room can be seen through the back doorway in negative 976:0021:0138.
