DESCRIPTION   Interior view of the first Economy Store, a dry goods store in Refugio, Texas. A man, Johnny Sportsman, in a white shirt and dark tie assists a female customer, while three other women look on. Two men in business suits stand in the center of the store. The man on the left is owner George Solka, a Polish immigrant who later served for 19 years as Mayor Pro Tem of Refugio; the man on the right is his brother Isaac. Along the walls, shoe boxes are stacked within a few few of the ceiling and dresses are displayed above shelves filled with bolts of fabric. This store sold bolt goods, work gloves, foot lockers, dolls, shoes, women's and girls' dresses, and piece goods for 12½¢ per yard.
