TITLE   Brown Cafe
DESCRIPTION   Interior view of Brown Cafe located across from Noakes Machine Shop in Corpus Christi, Texas. A man in a white shirt, apron, and cap stands behind a long dark counter with stools. Prices on sandwiches range from 10¢-20¢. One sandwich is called the Spark Plug Special, referring to the horse of the comic strip character, Barney Google, who was the forerunner of Snuffy Smith. They also sold soda or milk for 10¢, fried hot dogs for 10¢, plain spaghetti for 10¢, spaghetti with chili for 25¢, and calf's tongue for 15¢. Note the monitor on top of the G.E. refrigerator with the cord dropped from the ceiling. This place used very little electricity.
