Description:

A two volume, photographically illustrated work entitled Gardner’s Photographic Sketchbook of the War (Washington, DC: Philips and Solomons, 1865). The volumes contain a total of 99 albumen prints of the Civil War and the operations of the Army of the Potomac in Virginia, etc. Each plate is accompanied by a leaf with descriptive letterpress. The names of the photographers and photography studios, followed by the accession numbers of the photographs by them, follow.
