Description:

Set of 38 gelatin silver stereoscopic prints, which were published by Underwood & Underwood likely between 1901 and 1902, originally contained in a case made to look like two books. On each "spine" of the container, the title "Studies" is printed as are "The Underwood Travel Library," "Volume I" and "Volume II." Each stereograph is mounted on a curved card with a title, set number, and publication information printed on the recto. Most cards in this set have a longer narrative description printed on the verso, and/or the title in six languages. The set consists of images from Norway, Ireland, the Alps, Monte Carlo, Egypt, Hawaii, Martinique, and India, and there are two images of birds. Two are hand colored.
