Description:

The Soviet Photojournalism collection is comprised of 293 photographs by Soviet photojournalists documenting the era from the late 1920s to the 1960s. The collection contains a great deal of World War Two combat photography.

Some of these photographs were featured in the 2005 exhibition "The Battle for the Eastern Front: Photographs from the William Broyles Jr. Collection", which was held at the Ransom Center May 10-July 17, 2005.

Photographers represented in the collection are: Max Alpert (Russian, 1899-1980), Dmitri ĭ Georgievich Debabov (Russian, 1899-1949), Robert Diament (Russian, 1907-1987), Emmanuil Evzerikhin (Russian, 1911-1984), Ivan Gricher, Mikhail Kalashnikov (Russian, active 1940s), Yakov Khalip (Russian, 1908-1980), Georgy Khomzor (Russian, 1914-1990), Simon Kiladze (Russian, 1917-1998), Boris Kudoyarov (Russian, 1898-1973), Ol'ga Lander (Russian, 1909-1996), Georgi Lipskerov, Mark Markov-Grinberg, Ilya Narovlyansky, Georgi Petrusov, Mark Redkin, Yakov Riumkin, Viktor Ruykovitch, Ivan Shagin, Viktor Shakhovski, T. Shebotaev, Arkadi Shishkin, Anatoli Skurikhin, Aleksandr Stanovev, Sergei Strunnikov, Alexandr Ustinov, Anatoli Yerogov, and Georgi Zelma.
