Description:

Limited edition portfolio, titled A Portfolio of Sixteen Photographs (Rochester: George Eastman House, 1962), comprised of 16 halftone photomechanical reproductions of photographs by Alvin Langdon Coburn (British, born America, 1882-1966) taken between 1904 and 1917 that are reproduced as mounted halftone prints on separate leaves. The plates are accompanied by a pamphlet that contains an introduction by Nancy Newhall (American, 1908-1974) as well as references to Henry James. The portfolio was distributed by Wittenborn (New York) in 1962. The Ransom Center holds two copies, this one being the photographer's signed presentation copy to Helmut Gernsheim dated 18 October 1963. Plate titles and dates follow.
