HRC Leaf A37 Catholic Church. Nicene creed. Italy: 15th-16th century. 1 leaf: paper, 412 x 295 mm. Written in Latin, late gothic textualis script. Layout is six long lines of text alternating with square musical notation on 4-line red staves. Decoration includes red and blue initials; on verso one black initial slightly embellished with yellow pen work. Text: "spiritu sancto ex Maria virgineà (bottom verso) p[at]re filioq[ue] p[ro]cedit, qui cum P[at]re." Leaves A36 through A40 constitute the Nicene Creed, and were taken from the same 15th- or 16th-century choirbook. Provenance: Gift of H. L. Williford, 1961.
