HRC Leaf A39 Catholic Church. Nicene creed. Italy: 15th-16th century. 1 leaf: paper, 412 x 295 mm. Written in Latin, late gothic textualis script. Layout is six long lines of text alternating with square musical notation on 4-line red staves. Decoration includes red and blue initials. Text: "secu[n]dum scripturas, Et ascendit in c[a]elumà Confiteor unu[m] baptisma i[n] remissione[m] peccato[rum]." Leaves A36 through A40 constitute the Nicene Creed, and were taken from a 15th- or 16th-century choirbook. Provenance: Gift of H. L. Williford, 1961.
