HRC Leaf A42 Catholic Church. Gradual leaf. Italy: 16th century? 1 leaf: paper, 412 x 295 mm. Written in Latin, crude gothic script. Layout is six long lines of text alternating with 4-line red staves. Musical notation is incomplete on recto; four lines of text on recto; without musical notation on either side of the folio. Decoration includes one 2-line versal in black ink. Text: (incipit) "Accinxit fortitudine lombos suos et roborauit brachium suum ideoque lucerna eius non extinguetur in sempiternum." From the same sequence of folios as A36-A40, but after the Nicene Creed. According to Williford, a hymn for Matins. Provenance: Gift of H. L. Williford, 1961.
