HRC Leaf A45 Catholic Church. Psalter leaf. Italy: 15th century. 1 leaf: parchment, 492 x 380 mm. Written in Latin, gothic rotunda script. Layout is five long lines of text alternating with square musical notation on 4-line red staves. Decoration includes one 2-line inhabited initial on verso; one 3-line blue initial on recto; one 2-line pen-flourished initial in brown ink on verso. Text: "voce magna clama[n]tem [et] dicentem. Beati eritis cu[m] maledixeri[n]t vobis homines et p[er]secuti vos fueri[n]t dixerint omne malum ad[ver]sum vos mentientes propter me. gaudate et exultate." Antiphon from the Apocalypse and the feast of the Holy Apostles and portion of Matthew 5:11-12 (Beatitudes). Provenance: From the collection of William H. Crain, formerly designated as Crain #6.
