HRC Leaf M17 Catholic Church. Breviary leaf. Italy: 15th century 1 leaf: parchment, 265 x 198 mm. Written in Latin, gothic rotunda script. Layout is twenty long lines; ruled in ink. Left and right margins ruled in lead. Decoration includes ten 1-line alternating red-and-blue pen-flourished initials and one 2-line blue-and-red pen-flourished initial; square black musical notation on lightly drawn staves at bottom of recto and top of verso. Text: (recto) "Fortior hec crucibus viris exposuit sua membra... (Hymn to St. Agatha begins bottom of recto) Agathe sacre virginis diem festumà (verso) et testas accutissimas (sp?) igni feroci succensas." Hymns for the feast of St. Agatha and another virgin saint.
