HRC 5 Catholic Church. Book of hours. France: between 1425 and 1475. 176 leaves: parchment, 153 x 108 mm. Written in Latin and French, Gothic textualis formata script. Layout is 14 long lines ruled in red ink. Decorated with fourteen full-page miniatures, borders and 1- to 4-line initials. Binding: Bound in dark brown tanned calfskin over paper boards with gold and blind tooling; rebacked with dark brown tanned calfskin; metal frame, possibly silver, added. Provenance: Edward A.
