DESCRIPTION


HRC 6 Catholic Church. Book of hours. France: between 1450 and 1500. 121 leaves: parchment, 157 x 102 mm. Written in Latin and French, Gothic textualis formata script. Layout is 18 long lines ruled in light red ink. Decoration includes seven large and twenty-four small miniatures, ornamental borders on pages with miniatures, and decorated initials throughout. Binding: Bound in early 19th century brown, tanned calfskin over paper boards, possibly French. Gold tooled spine. Provenance: From the estate of John Henry Wrenn, 1918; acquired by Wrenn from A. J. Bowden; see De Ricci, University of Texas, no. 5. Use: Unrestricted, for either reading room or classroom use, but coach user: use book supports. Information folder: Yes
