Contact for William John Locke   1863-1930

The UK WATCH Office has traced the copyrights of William J. Locke as far as at least the 1980s, but has not confirmed the current position. The principal beneficiary of Locke's will (probate London, 20 June 1930) was his widow Aimee Maxwell Locke. The will of Aimee Maxwell Locke (probate London, 19 January 1949) specifically bequeathed the copyrights of William J. Locke to the broadcaster Leslie Mitchell. From Leslie Mitchell's obituary ('The Times', 25 November 1985), it appears that his estate would have passed to his Danish second wife Inge (née Jorgenson).
