Frank TouseyThe publishing firm of Tousey and Small was founded in New York in 1876 by Frank Tousey and George G. Small. In 1879 Tousey purchased Small's share in the business and began to trade as Frank Tousey. Tousey died in 1902. In 1920 the firm was purchased by Street and Smith. Franklin WattsFranklin Watts founded his publishing house in New York in 1942. The firm was purchased by Grolier in 1957 and then was acquired by Hachette as part of its purchase of Grolier in 1988.
