J. G. Cupples CompanyThe publishing firm of Cupples, Upham and Company was founded in Boston in 1883 by Joseph G. Cupples and Henry M. Upham, as the successor firm to A. Williams and Company (q.v.). From 1887 the firm was briefly known as Cupples and Company and then Cupples and Hurd, before it became the J. G. Cupples Company in 1890. The firm went out of business in 1893. K. G. SaurThe firm of K. G. Saur was founded in 1949, with a head office in Munich. K. G. Saur was purchased by Butterworths in 1987 and became part of the Reed Elsevier Group. Orion Publishing Group LtdThe following passage is taken from the Orion website (http://www.orionbooks.co.uk/history.aspx): "The Orion Publishing Group Limited was founded in 1991. Soon after incorporation, Orion began negotiations with Lord Weidenfeld and acquired Weidenfeld & Nicolson as the nucleus of a new, entrepreneurial publishing group." The Orion Publishing Group was bought by Hachette in 1998, but continues to trade under its own name.2008
