| Henry Regnery Company | Henry Regnery founded his own publishing company in Hinsdale, Illinois, in 1947. In 1977 Regnery sold his own interest in the firm and it was renamed Contemporary Books. See 'Dictionary of Literary Biography' 46 (1986), p. 313. Contemporary Books was acquired by the Tribune Company in 1993, and in 1996 became part of NTC/Contemporary. | Herbert Jenkins Ltd | The novelist Herbert Jenkins founded his own publishing company in 1912. The firm of Herbert Jenkins Ltd merged with Barrie & Rockliff in 1964 to form Barrie & Jenkins. | Herbert S. Stone and Company | Herbert S. Stone founded his own publishing firm in Chicago in 1896 after the dissolution of the partnership of Stone and Kimball (q.v.). In 1905 Herbert S. | Herbert Sweet and Company | The publishing firm of Herbert Sweet and Company was founded in Boston in 1845. In 1851 the firm was sold to William H. Spencer, and in 1871 sold to Lee and Shepard (q.v.). After a fire at the Lee and Shepard offices in 1872 the play division was sold to George M. Baker. The firm was renamed George M. Baker and Company. In 1892 it became the Walter H. Baker Company, and continues to trade as Baker's Plays. | Heyne Verlag | Wilhelm Heyne founded the Wilhelm Heyne Verlag in Dresden in 1934. In 2000 Heyne Verlag was sold to the Axel Springer group, who created a book division called Ullstein Heyne List.
