Irwin P. Beadle and Company	The publishing firm of Irwin P. Beadle and Company was founded by Irwin Beadle and Robert Adams in 1859, and forms part of the complex of firms usually described as Beadle and Adams (q.v.). Several times Irwin Beadle separated from the main firm, founding a second Irwin P. Beadle and Company in 1862 (sold to George Munro in 1864) and a third Irwin P. Ivan Obolensky, Inc.	The publishing firm of McDowell, Obolensky was founded in New York in 1957 by David McDowell and Ivan Obolensky. In 1960 McDowell left the firm, which continued as Ivan Obolensky, Inc. In 1967 the firm was reconstituted as Astor-Honor, Inc., publishing Astor Books and Honor Books. Jems Communications Inc.	The firm of Jems Communications Inc., of Carlsbad, California, publishers of prehospital periodicals, was purchased by the C. V. Mosby Company (a division of Times Mirror) in 1993. Mosby was purchased by Harcourt Brace & Company from Times Mirror in 1998, and the Harcourt Group was in turn purchased by Reed Elsevier in 2001. Julian Messner, Inc.	The publishing house of Julian Messner, Inc. was founded in New York in 1933. Julian Messner died in 1948, and his widow Kathryn Grossman Messner died in 1964.
