Kurt Wolff Verlag	Kurt Wolff Verlag was a publishing house founded by Kurt Wolff in Leipzig in 1913. In 1941 Wolff fled Germany for the USA, and in 1942 he became one of the founders of Pantheon Books in New York. Macgibbon and Kee Ltd	The publishing firm of Macgibbon and Kee was founded in London in 1949. The firm developed close links with Rupert Hart-Davis Ltd (q.v.) and, like Hart-Davis, was acquired by Granada Publishing (in 1968). In 1972 Granada created Hart-Davis, Macgibbon Ltd, although Macgibbon and Kee remained registered as a company. The archives of Macgibbon and Kee are in the University of Glasgow Library, and the following sentence is taken from their catalogue: "The company appears to have been dissolved in c.1983 when Granada sold its publishing interests to the Scottish publishers William Collins, Sons & Co Ltd, Glasgow." Mitchell Kennerley	Mitchell Kennerley founded his own publishing house in New York in 1906. Most of the firm's titles were published in the period 1906-1924, and the final Mitchell Kennerley book came out in 1938. Kennerley himself committed suicide in 1950. P. J. Kenedy and Sons	The publishing firm of P. J. Kenedy was founded in New York in 1866 as the successor firm to John Kenedy and Son (q.v.), on the death of John Kenedy. The firm was initially in the sole ownership of Patrick John Kenedy. His sons Arthur and Lewis Kenedy became directors of the firm in 1904 and it was renamed P. J. Kenedy and Sons. P. J. Kenedy died in 1906. In 1969 the firm was acquired by Macmillan Inc. of New York and the use of its name came to an end around 1982. Routledge & Kegan Paul	George Routledge began publishing in 1836 and founded his publishing company George Routledge & Co. in 1851. After briefly being known as Routledge, Warne & Routledge, it became George Routledge & Sons in 1865. In 1912 George Routledge & Sons merged with Kegan Paul, Trench, Trübner & Co. to form Routledge & Kegan Paul. The Routledge Group was purchased by the Taylor & Francis Group in 1998. Stewart Kidd Company	Stewart Kidd Company was a publishing firm based in Cincinatti, founded in 1910. In 1924 the firm was purchased by D. Appleton & Company, later Appleton-Century-Crofts. Stone and Kimball	The publishing firm of Stone and Kimball was founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1893 by Herbert S. Stone and Hannibal Ingalls Kimball Jr. The firm went out of business in 1897, when some but not all of its assets were acquired by Herbert S. Stone and Company. Useful Knowledge Publishing Company	Useful Knowledge Publishing Company was one of a number of companies founded by the bookseller and publisher John B. Alden. William Kimber	William Kimber was purchased by Thorsons in 1988. Thorsons was purchased by William Collins in 1989. William Collins became wholly owned by News Corporation in 1990, and was then incorporated into HarperCollins Publishers. See www.newscorp.com. The Thorsons name is still used by News Corporation, but the name of William Kimber has not been used for publishing since about 1989.	2008
