| George Newnes Limited | George Newnes began his publishing firm with the publication of 'Tit-Bits' in 1881. George Newnes Limited was one of three companies which merged in 1963 to form IPC (International Publishing Corporation). IPC was purchased by the Reed Group in 1970, and then by a Cinven-backed consortium in 1998, before being purchased by AOL Time Warner in 2001. | J. C. Nimmo Ltd | John C. Nimmo founded the firm of J. C. Nimmo Ltd in 1879. Nimmo died in 1899 and his business was purchased by George Routledge & Sons in 1903. In 1912 George Routledge & Sons merged with Kegan Paul, Trench, Trübner & Co. to form Routledge & Kegan Paul. The Routledge Group was purchased by the Taylor & Francis Group in 1998. | J. Winchester | Jonas Winchester ran his own publishing firm in New York from about 1840 to 1844, in association with 'The New World' of which he was joint-owner. In 1844 Winchester sold his interest in the firm to his son Ebenezer and J. W. Judd, and it seems that the firm closed shortly afterwards. 'The New World' ceased publication in 1845. | James Munroe and Company | The bookselling and publishing firm of Munroe and Nichols was founded in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts in the early 1830s by James Munroe and George Nichols. | Joseph Nancrede | The bookselling and publishing firm of Hall and Nancrede was founded in Boston in 1795 by Thomas Hall and Joseph Nancrede. By 1796 the firm was known as Joseph Nancrede. | Kegan Paul, Trench, Trübner & Co. | Kegan Paul, Trench & Co. was formed as a company in 1878. Nicholas Trübner formed his company in 1851. The two companies merged to form Kegan Paul, Trench, Trübner & Co. in 1889. In 1912 Kegan Paul, Trench, Trübner & Co. merged with George Routledge & Sons to form Routledge & Kegan Paul.
