Curwen PressThe music publishing firm of Curwen Press was founded by John Curwen (1816-1880) and was originally known as J. Curwen & Sons Ltd. In 1969 the firm was purchased by the US publishers Crowell, Collier & Macmillan. The new owners closed the London office of Curwen Press and divided the distribution rights between Faber Music and Robertson Publications. See the FOB entry for Crowell-Collier; H. Derrydale PressThe Derrydale Press was a book publishing company founded in 1927 by Eugene V. Connett III. According to the catalogue of the archives of the Derrydale Press, in Princeton University Library, the firm went into liquidation in 1942. 'Dictionary of Literary Biography' 46 (1986), p. 112, states that Derrydale's assets were sold in 1942 to the publisher of sporting prints Frank J. Lowe. Rights to the firm have now been acquired by the Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group, whose website states that they are "in the process of reviving Derrydale". See www.rowmanlittlefield.com.2008
Dial PressDial Press was founded in New York in the 1920s in association with 'The Dial' magazine. In the 1960s Dial Press was gradually acquired by Dell (later Dell-Delacorte).
