John B. AldenJohn B. Alden began his bookselling and publishing business in New York in the 1870s. He founded a number of firms, several of which went bankrupt. His last two enterprises bore the names of John B. Alden Publisher (1895-1905) and Alden Brothers Publishers (1905-1908). In 1908 he retired and closed down his firm. He died in 1924. John Muir PublicationsJohn Muir Publications was founded in 1973 as a travel publishing firm. Kegan Paul, Trench, Trübner & Co.Kegan Paul, Trench & Co. was formed as a company in 1878. Nicholas Trübner formed his company in 1851. The two companies merged to form Kegan Paul, Trench, Trübner & Co. in 1889. In 1912 Kegan Paul, Trench, Trübner & Co. merged with George Routledge & Sons to form Routledge & Kegan Paul. Kelmscott PressThe Kelmscott Press was founded by William Morris in 1891. The main activities of the press came to an end on Morris's death in 1896, and the firm was closed down in 1898.2006
