The Joel Sherzer Collection is organized into two series: I. Puppetry Materials,
1980; and II. Crafts Fair Materials, 1982. Series I. constitutes the bulk of the
collection and consists of about 1,000 color slides, contact sheets, and black
and
white negatives relating to the International Conference on World Traditions of
Puppetry and Performing Objects held in 1980 in Washington, D.C. These materials
are
arranged according to an alphanumeric classification system, and detailed photo
logs
are filed with the slides and contact sheets. The photographers represented are
Antonio Pasqualino, Corinne Kratz, Frank Proschan, Paula Johnson, and Stephanie
Krebs. Series II. includes about 124 slides and three photos of a crafts fair
in San
Marcos, Texas, in 1982.

Separated Material
Eighty-nine audio cassettes, many of which were created by Joan Gross in conjunction
with her fieldwork among puppeteers in Liege, Belgium, in 1982, were transferred
to
Ransom Center Sound Recordings Collection. Approximately 100 videotapes pertaining
to performance traditions of the U.S., Canada, Europe/Sicily, and the Middle
East/Asia were transferred to the Center’s Film Collection.
