Scope and Contents


Spanning from 1985 to 2010, the JT Jackson Collection of David Foster Wallace documents Wallace’s years at the MFA writing program at the University of Arizona.
Series I. Works by David Foster Wallace, makes up the bulk of the collection and contains fourteen workshop manuscripts written by Wallace for the writing program at the University of Arizona from 1985-1988. Some manuscripts include notes and reader comments.
Series II. JT Jackson Materials, contains a workshop schedule for a class shared by Jackson and Wallace, a series of list-serv pieces on Michael Bucher’s Wallace-I board from 2009 to 2010 documenting a group read of Girl With Curious Hair, and emails from JT Jackson explaining the origin and context of these materials.
Series III. Correspondence. Letters from Wallace to Jackson. Includes one short story by Wallace.
JT ‘Jate’ Jackson was a long-time friend and graduate school classmate of David Foster Wallace. They attended the MFA writing program together at the University of Arizona from 1985 to 1988.
