Abstract:
Includes manuscripts of works by the
Scottish adventure writer R. M. Ballantyne, as well as letters he wrote and
received, and some personal papers. Most of the correspondents are his wife and
other family members. Some diaries, journals, and sketchbooks contain sketches
and
drawings by Ballantyne, some in color. Most items bear numbers assigned by the
former owner, Eric Quayle, and are described in his catalog, which is also included
in this collection.
