Scope and Contents

The Ransom Center’s John Osborne Collection contains screenplays, typescripts, programs, correspondence, and newspaper clippings that were acquired separately from the John Osborne Papers. The collection includes an acting script used by George Relph in the original 1957 production of "A Play", which would later be known as "The Entertainer". This script was later given to David Hare. Also included are copies of two typescripts, "Time Present" and "The Hotel in Amsterdam". These materials were donated to the Royal Court Theatre and include programs from the productions, as well as a newspaper article that discusses censorship in British Theatre.

Related Material

Ransom Center holdings that complement the materials in the John Osborne Collection include the John Osborne Papers, as well as the John Osborne and Helen Dawson Osborne Papers.
