The British writer and literary critic V. S. Pritchett is represented mainly by manuscript drafts, some early journals and notebooks, and proofs for his writings, including articles, broadcasts, essays, lectures, literary criticism, novels, plays, and reviews, as well as the short stories for which he was particularly known. Only a small amount of correspondence is present, most notably between Gerald Brenan and Pritchett. Related holdings at the Ransom Center include files for Pritchett in the records of the British literary agent A. D. Peters & Co., additional letters in the Gerald Brenan Collection, as well as materials related to Pritchett’s membership in and his role as President of English PEN (1971-1975) and also of PEN International (1974-1976) in the PEN
Records.
