Scope and Contents


The Edith Sitwell Literary File Photography Collection consists of 145 items (photographic prints, half-tone reproductions, postcards) and includes portraits of Edith, Osbert, and Sacheverell Sitwell, Aldous Huxley, John Lehmann, and Pavel Tchelitchew, among others. There are also views of the Sitwell home, Renishaw Hall, and Castello Di Montegufoni, as well as photographic reproductions of paintings by Tchelitchew and several photographic prints of rescued animals. An index at the end of this guide lists photographers whose work is featured in this file. Further descriptions of some items may be available in a card catalog in the repository.
This file forms a part of the Literary Files Photography Collection that is comprised of photographs and albums withdrawn from the libraries and/or papers of literary figures, and generally includes portraits and images collected by or of those figures.
