Summary: Shanewis was an opera in two acts based on a book by Nellie Richmond Eberhart. The music was by Charles Wakefield Cadman, with costumes and scenes for Act II by Bel Geddes. It was produced by the New York Metropolitan Opera Company with Dance in the Congo and L'Oracolo on 23 March 1918, and with Le Coq d'Or on 28 March1918. It was restaged at the Met as part of a triple bill on 12 March 1919.
