Description: |
Photograph album containing 515 photographic reproductions of art works and one photo collage (964:1044:0369) consisting of parts from at least 20 other photographs. The photographs are all albumen prints and, with the exception of the photo collage, are inserted into slits in each page of the album. The works of art featured are primarily genre scenes, many of which include dogs and other animals, although also included are a series of marble busts. Most photographs are uncredited, but multiple photographs are credited to T. Richardson & Co. of London, B. Brooks of Oxford, Arthur Lucas, and Millen Bros. Inscribed in pencil by Helmut Gernsheim on the flyleaf inside the front cover: "Victorian taste in art / 490 [sic] reprod. of paintings". |
