Photographic album containing 61 mounted albumen prints that are primarily commercially produced views of landscapes and architecture in England and Scotland but also include two landscape photographs of New Hampshire. Handwritten captions accompany many of the photographs, and most photographs contain bear the artists' titles, initials, and/or imprint. Identified photographers are: James Valentine (Scottish, 1815-1879), 20 prints; George Washington Wilson (Scottish, 1823-1893), 11 prints; H. G. (Henry Guy) Inskipp (British, 1840-1888), 4 prints; Silvester Parry (British, 1838?-1901), 4 prints; Francis Frith (British, 1822-1898), 2 prints; a photographer with the initials I.A. or A.I., 2 prints. The photographers for 18 prints are unidentified. |
