Description:

Photograph album containing 20 cabinet cards (9 collodion printing-out paper, 6 gelatin silver printing-out paper prints, 4 albumen, 1 gelatin silver developing-out paper), 3 albumen cartes-de-visite, 2 tintypes, and 1 gelatin silver loose print. The photographs are of women (10), children and infants (9), men (5), and families (2), many of whom seem to be related to a woman named Alleyne. The album is covered in brown faux leather which is heavily embossed with a genre scene on the front cover, and a basket-weave pattern on the back cover. The album originally closed with a metal clasp, part of which is now lost. Eight of the interior pages have color botanical designs framing the photograph spaces. The cabinet prints include: 3 by H. J. Purnelle, Rail Road Photo Car (Perry, Okla. Ter.); 2 each by W. J. Blair (Gatesville, Tex.), G. H. Geer (Wynnewood, Ind. Ter. [i.e., Oklahoma]), and Works (Fort Worth, Tex.); 1 each by Clarence Anderson (Hopkinsville, Ky.), M. B. Brady (Washington, D.C.), Irons, Eureka Studio (Tyler, Tex.), W. D. Jackson, Jr. (Waco, Tex.), Mims & Rafferty, Eureka Studio (Tyler, Tex.), M. L. Sanders (Waco, Tex.), W. G. & A. J. Thuss (Nashville, Tenn.), and G. S. Utter & Co. (Chicago). The cartes-de-visite include: 1 each by Clarence Anderson (Hopkinsville, Ky.), and R. S. Patterson (Nashville, Tenn.). The photographers responsible for the tintypes, 1 carte-de-visite, and 2 cabinet cards, are unknown. Three photographic postcards and one photographic pint that were loose in the album are housed separately.
