Description:

Black calf album 10” x 13”, c.1870 [sic, ca. 1848-1882]. Contains 64 [sic, 128] fine cartes mostly by famous photographers such as Disderi, Silvy, Claudet, Mayall, of men famous in politics, art, and literatyre [sic, literature], and society women, collected mainly from the aesthetic aspect by H.G., arranged according to period, from 18[4]8-1885. Also contains 8 Cabinet photographs: Sarah Bernhardt with her autograph and dated 1879, Sir Henry Irving, Charles Dickens, Sir John Millais, W.E. Gladstone, Prince Louis Napoleon (said to be the last photograph taken in England before his death), John Ruskin with his autograph, and Ignaz Paderewski.
