Description:

The holdings by Fritz Henle (American, 1909-1993) include landscapes, travel views, and images related to the Cities Service project (circa 1953) and general oil industry in Texas and Louisiana, as well as portraits of area residents made in Ceylon, China, Germany, Haiti, Hawaii, India, Japan, the Middle East, and the Virgin Islands, and in Paris, France and New York; nudes; and intimate portraits of Pablo Casals. Approximately 1,435 gelatin silver and 213 color prints. Time period represented early 1930s to present. The collection also includes five museum boxed sets consisting of silver gelatin prints selected and grouped by Henle on particular subjects. The boxed sets are Mexico, U.S.A., India, China, and Nudes.  Also included in a maquette from an unrealized project of U.S.A. photographs. Additionally, five audiocassettes, four of which are recordings Henle made with Marta Casals, the cellist's widow. The other is a discussion between Henle and Heini Vogler.
