Description:

The Czechoslovak Postcard collection is comprised of approximately 525 items in two boxes. The prints and transparencies all date from between circa 1900 to circa 1940.

Box 1 -- 496 items that include b&w and color postcards by unidentified photographers depicting various regions in the former Czechoslovakia. Some are arranged by region and by subject matter. Included are images of cities and towns, including Prague, buildings, including the Cloister Strahov, the military, folk customs and clothing and historical drawings. Also includes some postcards from Romania, Poland, Yugoslavia, Macedonia, Albania and the Ukraine. Also included are b&w prints and slides, depicting daily life, customs and artifacts, architecture and architectural interiors, mountains, villages, churches, and portraits of artists, political leaders and farmworkers. Some of the materials were compiled by Edward Maresh.
