Description:

The collection is comprised of 365 photographs, which date to circa 1913, that involve the construction of the Panama Canal. The photographs were taken and collected by Edward Robert Killmer (American, 1889-1978), a civil engineer for the Texas Highway Department. The collection includes eight small panoramic photographs and photographic postcards of various aspects of the construction of the Panama Canal, including workers, surveyors, railroads, shipping, surrounding area, street scenes, landscapes, architecture, and local happenings including a bullfight.
