The collection consists of 103 photographs by 18 photographers, from the exhibition Perspectives Real and Imaginary, Nineteen Contemporary Czechoslovak Photographers, held in the George R. Brown Convention Center, during the 1990 FotoFest Biennial in Houston, Texas. The prints vary in size, but most are in their original exhibition mats of one of two sizes: 61 x 51 cm (20 x 24 in) or 51 x 41 cm (16 x 20 in). The others were housed by Ransom Center staff. Some prints have mild corner damage from repeated removal from exhibition mats. The majority of the photographs are gelatin silver prints, others are possibly platinum process, and one group by P. Zupnik that are embellished with applied color. The subjects of the photographs range from rural settings to portraits to modern urban landscape abstractions. The photographers represented are: Pavel Baňka (Czech, born 1941), Jaroslav Bárta (Czech, born 1948), Ivo Gil (Czech, born 1941), Štěpán Grygar (Czech, born 1955), Jiří Hanke (Czech, born 1944), Bohdan Holomíček (Czech, born 1943), Viktor Kolář (Czech, born 1941), Zdeněk Lhoták (Czech, born 1949), Miroslav Machotka (Czech, born 1946), Jan Malý (Czech, 1954-2017), Dušan Pálka (Czech, 1942-2011), Ivan Pinkava (Czech, born 1961), Jiří Poláček (Czech, 1946-2016), Ján Rečo (Czech, born 1948), Jan Reich (Czech, 1942-2009), Pavel Štecha (Czech, 1944-2004), Jindřich Štreit (Czech, born 1946), and Peter Župník (Czech, born 1961).
