Description:

Album of Victorian erotic photographs, dating to circa 1887/8. The album consists of 130 nudes on 40 albumen print plates. No photographers are credited, and while the origins of the photographs are unknown, many are most likely French. The majority of the photographs are copy prints of groups of photographs and works of art including paintings by Henry Picou, Emile Baye, and Dubufe fils. The imagery consists almost entirely of women, posing both alone and engaged in lesbian love scenes. The album, covered with ornate Asian laquered book-boards, is constructed in accordian fashion. To view images 964:1024:0026-0040, the album must be placed face down on a table and opened from the back cover.
