Description:

Limited edition book of poetry by Dorothy Norman (American, 1905-1997), titled Dualities (New York: Private printing for an American Place, 1933), that includes a photographic portrait of her by Alfred Stieglitz (American, 1864-1946). From the colophon: "Printed under the direction of Robert Josephy by the Beekman Hill press in New York in February 1933. The edition consists of four hundred copies on Worthy Aurelian laid paper, of which numbers 1 to 30 include an original photograph of the author by Alfred Stieglitz and have been signed by Dorothy Norman." The Ransom Center's copy is number 20, and it was originally owned by the art dealer J. B. (Jsrael Ber) Neumann (German, 1887-1961). A laid-in newspaper clipping about Stieglitz was withdrawn.
