Description:

Photograph album consisting of 117 mounted gelatin silver prints with typed captions on 60 pages. Also included on the first page is a hand-drawn, hand-colored margin and coat of arms with the motto "In Nomine Jesu." Many of the photographs are of Catholic missionaries and Native Alaskan school children showing an Alaskan way of life through various activities such as gardening, weaving, splitting wood, curing fish, and hunting. Most photographs are approximately 13 x 18 cm (5 1/8 x 7 1/16 inches), but some are as large as 20 x 26 cm (7 7/8 x 10 1/4 inches). A handwritten dedication reads: Souvenir of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the happy arrival in Alaska of the Very Reverend Father R. J. Crimont, S.J. now Vicar Apostolic of Alaska. Homage to their beloved Bishop from the missionaries and children of Akulurak whom Divine Providence has entrusted to his fatherly care.
