Writer. According to his obituary (New York Times, 17 June 1999), J. F. Powers lived in Collegeville, Minn. He was survived by four children, Katherine Anne, who lives in Cambridge, Mass., and writes a book column for The Boston Sunday Globe; James, Hugh and Jane, all of Ireland, and four grandchildren.
